Renewable Technology & Carbon Reduction for Business
Electric Vehicle Charging

Powering your transition to sustainable transportation. Navigate the road to net zero with electric vehicles and EV charging infrastructure.

Electric Vehicle sales in the UK grew by 186% in 2020 and made up around 15% of new vehicle registrations. Government plans to end the sale of conventional petrol and diesel combustion vehicles by 2030, means this trend is only set to continue.

The growth in EV sales in 2020 was largely down to company vehicles, with twice as many new electric vehicles registered to businesses as to private buyers. Benefit-In-Kind (BIK) tax relief for electric company and fleet vehicles at only 1%, helped to incentivise this uptake.

Electric Vehicle Charging

The increase in electric vehicles on the road has created a real need to roll out sufficient EV charging infrastructure solutions nationwide, to support the extra demand.

As well as the Benefit-In-Kind tax incentives, the Office of Low Emissions Vehicles offers a home and workplace charging grant, that can provide up to £350 per socket towards the cost of installation, up to a maximum of 40 sockets.

What to consider when installing EV Charging

There are numerous considerations when choosing an electric vehicle charging solution. The output of the charger is key to determining the speed at which the vehicle can charge. EV chargers range from ‘slow’ 3.6kW AC home chargers, up to 350kW DC ‘rapid’ chargers, that can be found at some motorway service stations.

Not all electric vehicles are able to support higher output chargers and there are other factors such as metering maximum demand and the supply capacity availability from your DNO, which will determine the most suitable type of EV charger for you.
