Solar PV Panels

Save money on your business energy bills and support the transition to a more sustainable future with solar PV panels.

What is solar power?

Solar power is produced by solar PV panels (photovoltaics), a renewable energy technology that converts sunlight into clean and sustainable electricity. Renewable energy generation overtook fossil fuels in the UK for the first time in 2020, with solar accounting for around 4% of this production. The PV market continues to grow, and research suggests solar could contribute as much as 20% of the UK’s energy supply by 2030.

Why is solar power important?

Solar power helps to cut your energy costs and carbon production to make your business more financially and environmentally sustainable.

Solar PV provides cheap electricity from the sun for the lifespan of the hardware, usually around 25 years. This energy can either be used straight away onsite, saved via battery storage to use later, mitigating energy costs, or sold back to the grid to generate revenue for your business. Solar PV reduces business energy costs and carbon emissions, whilst demonstrating your commitment to help tackle climate change.

Advances in Solar PV technology are increasing the efficiency of panels, and greater manufacturing output is reducing costs for hardware. This coupled with the rising cost of energy, makes it more beneficial and cost effective than ever to install solar panels for your business.

How to generate revenue from solar power?

Excess electricity from solar power can be sold back to the grid, creating revenue streams for solar PV generators.

The Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) scheme provides payments for renewable microgenerators like those utilising Solar PV installations and replaces the previous Feed in Tariff (FiT) scheme from January 2020.

Feed In Tariff prices were fixed and based on 50% of the total amount of energy generated. However, SEG prices vary considerably between suppliers (by up to 80%), and are based on the exact amount of electricity fed back into the grid, as measured by a smart export meter. This makes it more important to compare the various offers available and ensure you get the optimum revenue from the power you generate.

How does solar power work with battery storage?

Utilising battery storage solutions in conjunction with your solar PV panels, allows you to store the sun’s energy as electricity to use at night, or on cloudier days when there is little or no output from solar generation. This helps to smooth out the intermittent supply from PV generation and creates a more consistent and reliable source of power production.

How can we help with Solar PV?

Whether you are simply looking to switch your energy supply to a renewable option that includes solar power, or install your own PV panels at your business, we can help.

At Nationwide Utilities we have a decade of experience conducting feasibility studies and project managing renewable energy technology installations such as solar PV, wind power, battery storage and EV charging. We can determine the best hardware, installer and location for your site, generation requirements, and budget.

We manage the whole process from end-to-end, evaluating the numerous variables, sourcing quotes from the best providers and ensuring cost effective and timely delivery of projects to the highest standards.
